How did you start dancing Lindy Hop?
When I was 21, I was travelling on a year abroad in the UK, and one of the people I was staying with invited me along to a swing dance class in Sheffield. From there I just went to different classes wherever my travels brought me.
What does Lindy Hop mean to you?
For many years it was my main past time and social circle that took up most of my waking hours and made me travel to many interesting places and meet new people.
What do you love most about teaching?
I love finding new ways of explaining a concept, so that it suddenly ‘clicks’ and makes sense for the individual student.
What’s your favourite jazz song or artist?
Lavern Baker with ‘On Revival day’ because of the energy in the song, which is very fun to dance and improvise to
Fun fact or secret talent?
I also play folk music and dance folk dance.
