    Per discovered Lindy Hop through a 1988 Danish documentary, then took his first steps in London. Meeting Frankie Manning in 1997 sealed his fate. He calls it ‘my god, my light’ – pure joy and freedom. He loves passing knowledge to new dancers. A Chick Webb fan, he co-founded Swingshoes 30 years ago!

    Libor discovered Lindy Hop in 2017 at DTU’s dance club while writing his master’s thesis and got hooked instantly. It’s community, personal growth, and jazz music combined. He loves sharing his passion and seeing students get equally hooked. A Duke Ellington fan who values the social aspect most!

    Niomi discovered Lindy Hop after a car crash forced her to find gentler movement than climbing. For her, it’s self-expression, freedom, and community. She loves seeing students let go and show their true selves through dance, gaining confidence and joy!

    Chott discovered Lindy Hop at 21 during travels in the UK when a housemate invited her to a Sheffield swing class. she loves that moment when concepts ‘click’ for students. A Lavern Baker fan, she also plays and dances folk music!

    Nicolai discovered Lindy Hop through Boogie Woogie videos and fell for the energy. Swing dance is cultural appreciation and joy. He loves watching dancers add their own style. A Count Basie fan, he creates playlists across genres to explore rhythm!

    Johan discovered Lindy Hop through YouTube’s Hellzapoppin clip and a skilled bugg dancer who introduced him at Stockholm’s studio. For him, it’s magical partnership interpreting music together. He loves sharing knowledge and watching students make movements their own. Digs Count Basie and is a 3-time discgolf champ!

    Eiki started Lindy Hop in Iceland in 2007 when a friend returned from Germany determined to start the first scene there. After months of convincing, he finally said yes and never looked back. He sees it as history and creative expression – pure joy through communication. He loves creating positive learning atmospheres. A Fats Waller fan with a hat obsession!

    Teo discovered Lindy Hop when his friend tricked him into a class, then left him there—but he stayed and never wants to leave! It’s his peaceful spot for laughter and being himself. He loves seeing students evolve together. A fan of “King of the Swingers,” he also enjoys learning Japanese and stand-up comedy!

    Jan learned the Jitterbug from Per Rock and never looked back. For him, swing dance means physical and creative expression with his partner. He loves helping brave students succeed and is always thinking about the next Balboa dance opportunity!

    Hannah discovered Lindy Hop at 17 watching her mum dance at a birthday party – the joy and aliveness caught her completely off guard. It’s healed and taught her everything about connection. She loves watching her students grow and find their style. Ella Fitzgerald fan who DJs, she’s danced both roles for 27 years!

    Rui started dancing Lindy Hop at Café Bojan in Stockholm in 2014 during his studies—fun times! He loves the social aspect, connecting with Copenhagen’s community and honoring the dance’s cultural roots. He enjoys when classes have good vibes and students get lightbulb moments. A fan of “Flying Home” by Lionel Hampton, he once played Ultimate Frisbee in Copenhagen!

She loves sharing dance joy and seeing students click. Currently loving Ella’s comedic jazz stylings and Eyal Vilner’s energy. Former trumpet player!

A big fan of Mary Lou Williams, she only started dancing after moving from Japan in her thirties – party meant karaoke back then!

She loves watching students grow and discover new moves. A fan of “Clarinet Creole,” she secretly loves organizing and won a Bugg competition at 11!

    Jens discovered Lindy Hop through a friend at a party with a taster class. Though he couldn’t do the steps at first, the energy hooked him instantly! For him, it’s a physical outlet with fast movements and happy high energy. He loves how teaching motivates his own improvement. Currently obsessed with “Roll’Em” by Bernert Berkhout for solo jazz practice—and he’s a fantasy/sci-fi nerd at heart!

He loves helping students overcome hurdles he faced too. Currently grooving to Cab Calloway’s “Pickin’ the Cabbage” and secretly juggles!

For her it means friendship and freedom, a space to let go and enjoy the moment. She loves seeing people light up when they feel the dance’s joy. An Illinois Jacquet fan, she’s also a scuba diver!

    Aske discovered Lindy Hop on a warm summer night at Amager beach when a colleague taught Charleston steps after a team-building event. For him, it’s about joy, connecting, and having space to be yourself within an amazing community. New to teaching, he loves those moments when students start having fun or suddenly “get it.” A fan of Oscar Peterson Trio’s “Daytrain,” he’s traded musical instruments for his bodily instrument!
