Secure your spot today

The surest way is to bring someone of the opposite role:

Ask a friend to sign up and write your email in the "Register with a partner" field. You are both approved straight away, even with a waiting list.
Sign up as a couple and register the two of you in one go.
Dance the other role? Check whether it has free spots, and sign up for that instead.

Otherwise, sit tight - most people on the waiting list get a spot before the class starts.

How the waiting list works

In partner dancing, we need a roughly equal number of leads and follows in each class. When one role has more sign-ups than the other, the extra people are placed on the waiting list. Here is an example with 3 leads and 5 follows, which places 2 follows on the waiting list until more leads sign up:

Leads and follows balance illustration

The 2 extra follows (shown in red) are placed on the waiting list. As soon as more leads sign up, the follows on the waiting list are approved automatically.

How to skip the waiting list

If you get someone of the opposite role to sign up and they write your email in the "Register with a partner" field, you are both approved straight away - regardless of the waiting list.

Partner registration example

Near the end of the sign-up period, SwingShoes also tries to find helping leads or follows, so as many people as possible get on the course.

If you are still on the waiting list when the course or workshop starts, your purchase is refunded immediately.

How partner registration works

Important fact to start with(!!): If you register with a partner, then you are still expected to 'rotate partners'. Swing dancing is a social dance, where partner switching is part of the dance. All our classes do that.

When registering with a partner, then you and your partner are approved in the class. You have to dance a role each, so one of you must be "lead" and the other must be "follow". There are two ways you can sign up two people together.

The first way: Individual sign-up, where you note the other person as your partner. If you do this, then the first sign-up will be 'Awaiting partner' until both of you have signed up. When both of you have signed up, then both of you are approved for the class (even if there is a waiting list).

The other way: Sign up using the 'Couple sign-up'. This way, then you register for the both of you in one go. But then you have to pay at the same time.

Both of these methods, make you skip the waiting list.

So if you want to secure your seat on a class that has a waiting list, then you should go fishing for someone to sign up with. :-)

Social ambassador

Bring the community-feeling to the class

A class is so much more fun when you actually know the people you’re dancing with. As Social ambassador, your job is to help that happen – not by being in charge, but by being the person who includes others.

Concretely, that might look like:

Suggesting a beer or a bite together before or after class, even just once or twice during the round.
Nudging people to come along to social dances – “a few of us are going to [venue] on Friday, join us?”
Making sure newcomers and people who came alone get chatted with, not left standing on the side.

You don’t have to organize something every week, and you don’t have to be the loudest person in the room. You just have to be the one who remembers that the social side matters – and makes a small, steady effort to pull people in.

Taking this role discounts your registration by 150 kr..

Recap and video responsible

Capture the recap - and share it fast

Every class ends with a recap, and a good recap video is gold – people rewatch it all week topractice.
Your job is to film it and get it out to the group quickly.

What this involves:

Before the recap: Help the teachers pick a good spot – decent light, a clean background, and room for you to frame the shot properly. Position yourself so you get both partners fully in frame.
Ask the teachers whether they’re okay with the video being shared beyond the class group – on SwingShoes’ Instagram and/or website.
Film it on your phone. Hold steady, keep the whole movement in frame, and check the audio isn’t blown out.
Upload it within 30 minutes after class, to the link on the My Account-page. Speed matters more than polish – people want it while the moves are still fresh.
If you want to trim the start/end or add a title, great – but only quick edits you can do on your phone. Don’t sit on the video for two days perfecting it :-).

No fancy gear needed. A reasonably recent phone and a steady hand is enough.

You’ll receive an email with a direct link to the video upload, on the day of every class.
The video upload happens via Swingshoes.dk – and the video will be put on Vimeo, so you don’t need Facebook or any other SoMe to take on this role.
