SwingShoes is trying something new! Sigrid and Emilie will facilitate practice sessions built around experimentation, co-creation and community.
Together, you’ll shape what to work on – refining steps, playing with rhythms, improving connection, or diving deeper into the African American roots of Lindy Hop. Sessions include warm-ups, exploration exercises and creative tasks.
All levels welcome – it’s about curiosity, not experience. After each session, grab food together and head to Studenterhuset.
This is a two-month trial before summer, with hopes to continue. Join us for creativity, exploration and community!

Description
This is a practice and creation group that will be facilitated by Sigrid Norheim Ørntoft and Emilie Ji.
Swingshoes is trying something new! Emilie and Sigrid will facilitate practice sessions where there will be space for experiment, co-creation and shaping its direction together. We want to build a team where encouragement and growth (both individual and collective) are at the heart of what we’ll do. We’ll practice giving and receiving feedback that helps everyone grow. All levels are welcome. It’s not about how much you already know but about your curiosity and desire to keep improving.
Sigrid and Emilie will help frame and facilitate parts of the training with warm-ups, exploration exercises, creative tasks, and create a space where learning more about the African American roots of the dance is encouraged. Together, we will shape what we (you) want to work on, whether that’s refining steps, playing with rhythms, improving your connection, your flow, diving deeper into the African American roots of Lindy Hop, or all of the above. You will bring your own goals and ideas, as well as Lindy Hop, Charleston and solo jazz steps you want to practice.
Lindy hop is a dance that’s about expressing yourself as well as sharing and inspiring each other and therefore our wish is to create a space where this can happen. We, Emilie and Sigrid, are here to share our knowledge, experience and observations, but your peers are also there to share theirs.
After the sessions, there is time to go and eat together and then end the evening at Studenterhuset. This is a new concept, and we’re running it as a two-month trial before the summer. Depending on how it feels for the group, we hope to continue and let this experiment grow into something last.
Join us if you want to dance in a set group based on creativity, exploration and community. We’re excited to explore, learn and dance with you!
