Balboa 2 – Beginner/Intermediate

A class is so much more fun when you actually know the people you’re dancing with. As Social ambassador, your job is to help that happen – not by being in charge, but by being the person who includes others.

Concretely, that might look like:

• Suggesting a beer or a bite together before or after class, even just once or twice during the round.
• Nudging people to come along to social dances – “a few of us are going to [venue] on Friday, join us?”
• Making sure newcomers and people who came alone get chatted with, not left standing on the side.

You don’t have to organize something every week, and you don’t have to be the loudest person in the room. You just have to be the one who remembers that the social side matters – and makes a small, steady effort to pull people in.

Every class ends with a recap, and a good recap video is gold – people rewatch it all week topractice.
Your job is to film it and get it out to the group quickly.

What this involves:

• Before the recap: Help the teachers pick a good spot – decent light, a clean background, and room for you to frame the shot properly. Position yourself so you get both partners fully in frame.
• Ask the teachers whether they’re okay with the video being shared beyond the class group – on SwingShoes’ Instagram and/or website.
• Film it on your phone. Hold steady, keep the whole movement in frame, and check the audio isn’t blown out.
• Upload it within 30 minutes after class, to the link on the My Account-page. Speed matters more than polish – people want it while the moves are still fresh.
• If you want to trim the start/end or add a title, great – but only quick edits you can do on your phone. Don’t sit on the video for two days perfecting it :-).

No fancy gear needed. A reasonably recent phone and a steady hand is enough.

You’ll receive an email with a direct link to the video upload, on the day of every class.
The video upload happens via Swingshoes.dk – and the video will be put on Vimeo, so you don’t need Facebook or any other SoMe to take on this role.
