How did you start dancing?

The first time I ever swing danced a friend took me to a social. I had no experience, but I really enjoyed the energy in the music. It wasn’t until 2018 but I found an organized Lindy Hop class and from then the rest is history.

What do you love most about teaching?

I’ve always loved watching people learn. I began my. professional life as a Physio therapist specializing in helping people recover the ability to walk following catastrophic injuries. That love of teaching and watching people grow has never left me.

What does swing dancing mean to you?

Lindy Hop is the highest form of the expression of freedom for me. It’s a place to find community share passion, alleviate stress and express joy in the face of incomprehensible suffering.

What’s your favourite jazz song or artist?

While there are so many songs that I love. There are two that hold of a special place in my heart. One is Benny Goodman sextext’s Flyin’ Home. Another is Andy Kirk’s Wednesday Night Hop.

Fun fact or secret talent?

Before I found Lindy Hop I was always seeking athletic and creative outlets including playing drums in a punk rock band, playing soccer, writing poetry, and competing in Track and field
