How did you start dancing?
I started dancing lindy hop after a bad car crash that injured the nerves in my spine so I could not climb so I had to find something more mellow to keep me moving.
What do you love most about teaching?
What I love most about teaching is seeing my students really letting go and showing a side of them you can only see within the dance. When they start to become more confident and expressive. Also making my students laugh so that they feel more comfortable and settled into a new environment.
What does swing dancing mean to you?
Lindy hop means self expression, freedom of movement, acceptance and community to me.
What’s your favourite jazz song or artist?
My favourite song has to be mumbles by oscar peterson, clark terry. Because the riff is pure energy and playfulness and the song suits so many dance styles and its pure vibes!
Fun fact or secret talent?
I can wave my little toe at you.
