How did you start dancing?

I saw people social dancing outside at a festival in Copenhagen. It looked fun, so I gave it a try. 

What do you love most about teaching?

I love it when I see the sparkle of joy in dancers. Especially when it happens while people try the class materials in social dance!

What does swing dancing mean to you?

It’s a moment of expression beyond words. The connection to the music and my partner brings a unique feeling of joy and freedom that exists only then. In short, I love it and I cannot imagine life without it any more.

What’s your favourite jazz song or artist?

That’s a difficult one, so many great songs and artists!!! If I choose one now, Mary Lou Williams (jazz pianist, arranger, composer). I cannot resist the groove and power in her music. When I DJ you are definitely grooving to her songs!

Fun fact or secret talent?

I grew up in Japan. I never danced before I came to Denmark in my thirties - party meant Karaoke back then!
