How did you start dancing?
My parents signed me up to ballet classes when I was three because toddler-me was always boogieing around! After years of on and off-ballet as I started to get bored of it, I stumbled on a lindy hop social at Studenterhuset in the summer 2023. I joined the intro, and instantly became OBSESSED with it. I’ve been dancing swing ever since.
What do you love most about teaching?
I haven't taught a lot yet, but I enjoy seeing people experiment, grow and gain confidence. I love helping dancers through a tricky bit until it clicks, and I know teaching will also make me understand dancing in new ways.
What does swing dancing mean to you?
Swing dance feels like freedom, where I reach a state of flow. When I’m following, I get lost in the music and the connection with my partner. I love that every dance is unique, just this shared moment that only exists once.
It’s also a welcoming space where you can be silly, express yourself, and belong. And beyond all that, it’s a living piece of cultural history, an art form that carries so much soul and resilience. It feels super special to be part of that!
What’s your favourite jazz song or artist?
Not going to lie, I literally cannot answer this question.
Fun fact or secret talent?
Show me pics of your cats! I love them but am allergic so I need to get my fix by proxy
