Call out for new Lindy Hop teachers – Join the SwingShoes Pre-Teacher Program
We are looking for passionate dancers who would like to teach and share the joy of Lindy Hop with our growing SwingShoes community! So if you have been considering getting into teaching, then now is your chance.
The SwingShoes teachers group and board are excited to repeat the pre-teacher program once more! The main goal of the program is to make the process of becoming a Lindy Hop teacher more transparent and to provide new teachers with tools and confidence to begin teaching. So the first step to become a SwingShoes teacher is to apply for and participate in this year’s program. After the pre-teacher program is completed, the decision of who will become new teachers will be made by the pre-teacher program committee.
The pre-teacher program is 6 weeks long and runs from 10th February 2026 until 16th March. The program will include two evenings of discussing the music and history/culture of Lindy Hop (10/02 and 17/02) and three weeks of following experienced teachers while they are teaching (02/03, 09/03 and 16/03). During the program you will have an active role in both the discussions and the teaching.
Everyone who participates in the program will receive some feedback from the committee after it ends, regardless of whether they are accepted into the teachers group or not.
Expectations for applicants
We expect the coming teachers to:
- be experienced dancers (as minimum have been in lindy 8 or equivalent),
- have a basic understanding of your opposite dance role,
- have some solo jazz experience
- and of course be motivated to teach.
How to apply
Please send a written application to teachers@swingshoes.dk no later than 25th January 2026.
The application should include the following information:
- The role you would like to teach (leader, follower or both)
- A description of your dance experience
- Let us know if you have any prior teaching experience (dance or otherwise)
- A few sentences about why you would like to teach Lindy Hop at SwingShoes
- A short answer to the question: What do you value in Lindy Hop dancing?
We will reply to applicants no later than 1st February 2026.
IMPORTANT: Being accepted for the pre-teacher program is not equivalent to being accepted as a teacher. This will be decided after the pre-teacher program.
